Event Summary
To ensure that regional perspectives and challenges are adequately captured in the recommendations and future advocacy efforts with the G20 Process, a series of regional meetings were planned in different parts of the world.
A regional meeting was hosted in Manila, jointly organized by the Interfaith Alliance for Safer Communities, the G20 Interfaith Forum Association and International Justice Mission, and was hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The meeting was attended by nearly 100 participants from diverse backgrounds, including faith leaders and representatives from international organizations, civil society, academia, and faith-based organizations communities.
The discussions focused on five thematic areas:
- Climate reform and providing responsive humanitarian aid
- Online sexual exploitation of children
- Trafficking and modern forms of slavery
- Education of children concerning their rights
- Social inclusion and protection of freedom of religion or belief
